About BayernLabo

BayernLabo is the development bank of the Free State of Bavaria and part of the BayernLB Group.
Its core mission is to promote social housing, municipal infrastructure and public-interest development across Bavaria. As a public institution, BayernLabo manages funding programmes on behalf of the Free State and provides low-interest loans, subsidies and advisory services to municipalities, social housing providers and other public-sector actors.

With its mandate to ensure affordable housing and strengthen municipal development, BayernLabo plays a central role in supporting sustainable, socially responsible and future-oriented public investment.

ESG & SDG Context

As part of its statutory mission and public accountability, BayernLabo reports transparently on how its funding activities contribute to sustainability goals, including:

  • the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • the Bavarian Sustainability Strategy
  • the German Sustainability Strategy
  • the EU Taxonomy and broader regulatory expectations.

To support this, BayernLabo conducts an annual SDG mapping of its funding volumes and publishes detailed sustainability and impact information in its public reports.
